FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: Should I say something that is oppressive/in an oppressive way, please leave a comment calling me out. I am very grateful to receive this feedback, as my goal is to be as minimally oppressive as possible in my life, and I cannot always do that without help.
This is not a liberal-identifying blog. Blogs aren’t people, and political liberalism is too dependent on capitalism. We don’t love capitalism here.
Things that will definitely be discussed: kyriarchcal oppression (it’s like patriarchy, but acknowledging the intersection of race, class, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity et al with gender to form a society that privileges white, wealthy, able-bodied, heterosexual, cisgender men, ultimately, and you, the more those descriptors can be applied to you. That’s probably it. I don’t really care about anything else. Many posts will contain links.
I have lived in the United States my whole life. I grew up in Vermont. I currently live in New York. I spent 10 years in Florida. This is relevant to my posts. I do not pretend that I can speak from the experience of people in all developed countries, no matter how similar they may be to this one. Therefore, keep this frame of reference in mind when reading. Links I post will almost exclusively be from the United States or about the ways in which Americans interact with people from and in other countries. This is based on my own interests, and on the fact that people in other countries are better able to accurately critique issues going on in the place they live, particularly if it is a place I have never even been.
I have a JD and a BA in sociology and gender studies. I am therefore qualified to talk about exactly nothing, but will do it anyway.
